Niels was born in 1850 in Thorup, Viborg, Denmark. A number of years ago I tried to find Thorup much to my frustration. I suspect it is now part of the city of Randers, Denmark.
Dorthea Marie Nielsen was born in Oster Velling, Denmark. This is still a small town in Denmark. I drove through town and took a picture of the old church. For some reason, I have a fondness for this lady. I like the way she looks and I like the few stories my father told of her. She definitely lived and interesting life traveling the world. Yet I doubt she had an easy life. Running the farm while Niels traveled to Denmark on missions must have been a trial for her. She was undoubtedly a tough woman. She died in Fountain Green at age 87. She had a good long life.
