Denmark
I always wanted to visit Denmark. After all, its where my “people” came from. In the late 1990s I visited London and I was surprised how quickly I was identified as a “foreigner.” Londoners have a look. I didn’t have it. When I went to Denmark in 2002 and 2008 I felt like I had gone home.
It definitely wasn’t home but it was very comfortable visiting. So many Danes looked like relatives of mine. I saw a look of my Great Grandfather Ray Anderson. The women looked a lot like my sisters. I liked everything about Denmark. Especially the people.
I tried to find Thorup, Denmark and came to the conclusion the Randers, Denmark grew so much that Thorup no longer exists. Oh well, the Mikkelsons have been gone for a long time. Niels left in the 1870s.
